A 66-year-old woman has been remanded in custody in connection with the death of a toddler who was left in her care.
Madam Josephine Avlekpor has been charged with manslaughter by the Circuit Court in Ashaiman following the death of a child in her care due to burns sustained while she was bathing the child with hot water.
Thomas Avugblah, the son of the accused, recounted the incident to Crime Check, explaining that his mother had taken in the child and her mother to provide assistance in their care.
Thomas further stated that the accused has been on remand for four months without a complete hearing, as the court has repeatedly adjourned her case.
The child’s mother reportedly filed a complaint against the accused after the child’s passing.
Regardless of the good intentions involved, the law must take its course.
