Residents of Klumah in the Dorfor Traditional Area of the North Tongu District are facing a severe water crisis, with no access to clean and safe drinking water.
For years, the people, including women and children, have been forced to walk long distances in search of water. Even more worrying, the only water source available to the community is heavily polluted with mud and is shared with cattle belonging to herdsmen.
According to the residents, a borehole was constructed in the community, but the water is salty and unusable for any domestic purpose.
The situation is putting the health of the entire community at risk, as they fear an outbreak of waterborne diseases such as cholera, typhoid and diarrhoea if urgent action is not taken.
The people of Klumah-Dorfor are therefore making a passionate appeal to the North Tongu District Assembly, government, NGOs, philanthropists and all well-meaning individuals to come to their aid by constructing a mechanized borehole to provide them with safe and clean drinking water.
They say access to clean water is not a privilege but a basic human right, and they should not be left to suffer.
