President John Dramani Mahama has announced government’s ambition to upgrade Ghana’s sports infrastructure with at least five stadiums that meet Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the *Ho Stadium*, the President said the goal is to position Ghana to host major continental football competitions again, including the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
According to President Mahama, improving stadium infrastructure is critical if Ghana is to attract and successfully host international tournaments in the near future.
The Ho Stadium visit forms part of government’s assessment of facilities across the country ahead of planned upgrades.
