Mrs. Atanga says nurses and other health professionals must maintain eye contact, provide emotional support, and reduce phone use during consultations.

“Patients deserve to feel seen and heard, not ignored while we scroll,” she noted.

She believes that small gestures of empathy and focus can greatly improve patients’ experiences of care in hospitals and clinics across the country.
