The Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, earlier today, 12th May 2026, held a productive meeting with representatives of the GES Security Association to address concerns regarding weekend and holiday duties.
It will be recalled that members of the Association had, since 6th March 2026, withdrawn their services on weekends and public holidays due to concerns over remuneration for work undertaken during these periods.
At today’s meeting, the leadership of the Association formally presented their concerns to Management. The Director-General acknowledged the legitimacy of the issues raised and assured the delegation that steps are actively being taken to address them in a fair and timely manner.
Following the engagement, the GES Security Association has agreed, in good faith, to resume full duties, including weekend and holiday assignments, effective immediately.
GES Management commends the leadership and members of the Association for their cooperation, professionalism, and commitment to ensuring the safety and security of educational institutions across the country.
The Service wishes to assure all stakeholders, including students, parents, and staff, that measures are being pursued to resolve the concerns raised, while maintaining a safe and secure learning environment at all times.
GES remains committed to the welfare of all its staff and will continue to engage relevant stakeholders to ensure that all matters are addressed appropriately.
