Authorities in Ghana have reportedly destroyed 100 bags of Indian herbs valued at millions of dollars after the substances were confiscated at Dabala Junction in the Volta Region back in 2022.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Ghana Immigration Service, Environmental Protection Agency, Ghana Police Service, alongside other security agencies as part of efforts to clamp down on illegal drug trafficking and protect public safety.
According to reports, the large consignment was intercepted during a security operation at Dabala Junction, a known transit point in the Volta Region. After investigations and due procedures, officials moved to destroy the seized items to prevent them from re-entering circulation.
The destruction exercise highlights Ghana’s continued commitment to fighting narcotics-related crimes and tightening border and inland security operations.
Authorities have reiterated warnings to individuals and criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, stating that security agencies remain vigilant and ready to intensify operations across the country.
Further details surrounding arrests or prosecutions linked to the seizure have not yet been publicly disclosed.
