Two brothers, Felix Dogbey, 18, and Christian Dogbey, 25, drowned in an abandoned quarry lake at Live Donorkope in the Akatsi South Municipality while trying to rescue their nine-year-old brother, Eric, who was drowning. Felix succeeded in saving Eric but lost his life, while Christian also drowned attempting to save Felix.
The brothers had travelled from Asikuma to attend a funeral with friends. After unsuccessful rescue attempts by local divers, officers from NAVTRAC assisted, and the bodies were later recovered and deposited at St. Paul’s Hospital morgue for autopsy.
