DZODZE – Plans to cut sod for the proposed ECOWAS market in Dzodze have been put on hold due to unresolved land issues, Ketu North Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Martin Amenaki has said.
Hon. Amenaki disclosed this on Tuesday during the sod-cutting ceremony for the 24-Hour Economy Market at Dzodze Kave. He said the assembly could not proceed with the ECOWAS market project as planned until the land matter was settled.
“I cannot give a definite date now because we are still working to resolve the challenges on the ground,” he said. “But the assembly is committed to getting this sorted so the project can take off.”
The proposed ECOWAS market is designed to support cross-border trade between Ghana and neighboring countries, providing a structured facility for traders, market women, and transport operators in Dzodze and surrounding communities. Officials say the project is expected to reduce congestion in the town center, improve revenue mobilization, and create jobs.
The 24-Hour Economy Market at Dzodze Kave, for which sod was cut on Tuesday, forms part of government efforts to expand commercial infrastructure under the 24-Hour Economy policy.
Assembly officials say they are engaging traditional authorities and landowners to resolve the outstanding issues on the ECOWAS market site.
