What can it do?

This is a comforting home drink, not a medicine. It does not cure infections, but it may help you feel more comfortable:

– May help soothe cough and throat irritation – largely because of warm fluid and honey.
– May help with mild digestive discomfort and nausea – ginger is traditionally used for this.
– Provides plant compounds with antioxidant activity from garlic, onion, ginger and cloves.
– Provides warm fluids and hydration, which can be comforting when you have a cold.

Important safety tips:

✓ Honey: Do NOT give honey to babies under 1 year. For adults and older children, add honey only after the drink has cooled slightly – very hot water destroys some of honey’s properties.

✓ Moderation: This is a strong mix. One small cup a day is enough. Too much ginger, garlic or cloves can cause stomach upset, heartburn or nausea in some people.

✓ Not a replacement for medicine: If you have persistent cough, high fever, difficulty breathing, chest pain, or cough lasting more than a few days, please see a healthcare professional. This drink does not replace antibiotics or prescribed treatment.

✓ Who should be careful: People with stomach ulcers, acid reflux, those on blood thinners or diabetes medicines, and pregnant women should talk to their doctor or pharmacist before using strong herbal mixes regularly.

✓ Keep it fresh: Prepare a small batch fresh each time. Don’t keep it for many days.

Bottom line:
As part of a balanced diet with enough water, rest, and fruits and vegetables, this warm drink can be a soothing addition – but it is for comfort and general wellness, not a cure.
