Anchor Scripture: Genesis 39:12-13
> “And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out. And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and was fled forth…”
Child of God, hear this deep truth!
Sometimes it’s not every offer you accept. It’s not every opportunity you grab. Yes, it looks sweet, it looks like it will change your life, it comes with money, with sex, with favour, with connection – but if you have sense, you will look beyond yourself and reject it!
Look at Joseph! A sugar mummy was ready! Mrs. Potiphar – rich, powerful, influential, beautiful. She said “Lie with me.” Just one night, and your life will change. She will give you money, give you promotion, give you immunity in that house. Any young man in Egypt would have said “This is favour! This is my breakthrough!”
But Joseph fled! He left his garment! He chose to be called a prisoner than to be called a boyfriend to his master’s wife.
Why? Joseph was not thinking about his stomach alone. He was thinking about posterity! He was thinking about destiny! He knew “If I accept this offer, God will withdraw His favour upon me. If I flop, Israel will die of hunger. Egypt will die. My father’s house will perish because their preserver failed!”
One offer rejected saved a whole nation! One night of self-control preserved generations!
Hear me! In life, don’t take a decision that favours you alone! Before you take that decision, think about your family, your children, and the generation to come!
That man you are choosing – yes he has money, he is spending on you, he has a car, but ask yourself: Can he be the father of my children? Can he support my dreams? Can he preserve my generation or will he destroy it?
That woman you are choosing – yes she is beautiful, she has shape, she has back and front, but ask yourself: Can she be the mother of my children? Can she pray for me? Can she build with me?
That sex offer she is giving you, that money he is providing, will it build you and your generation or will it destroy you?
A lot of us have made a mistake and now we have put our children in a mess. When he was spending on you, you were happy because you were enjoying it alone. Now he impregnated you and ran away, and the innocent child is facing the consequences of an offer you should have rejected.
That job you have been offered – yes the pay is cool, the conditions are okay, but if you are no more, can your family rely on that job to survive? That deal you want to sign – will it save your generation or sell your generation?
Not every offer is from God. Some offers are traps to abort your posterity!
10 DEEP LESSONS FROM THE GARMENT JOSEPH LEFT BEHIND
1. SOME OFFERS ARE NOT BLESSINGS, THEY ARE BURIALS
Not everything that glitters is gold. Potiphar’s wife looked like favour but it was a coffin for Joseph’s destiny. Some sugar mummy, sugar daddy, contract, connection that looks like breakthrough is actually a burial ground for your future. Learn to discern.
2. YOUR GARMENT IS YOUR IDENTITY – DON’T LEAVE IT IN THE WRONG HANDS
Garment represents your dignity, your glory, your priesthood. Joseph left his garment in her hand and fled. It is better to lose your garment and keep your destiny than to keep your garment and lose your destiny. Your virginity, your integrity, your name is your garment – don’t leave it in a strange woman’s hand.
3. FLEEING IS NOT WEAKNESS, FLEEING IS WISDOM
The Bible says “Flee fornication.” Joseph did not stand to negotiate, to pray in tongues, to counsel her. He fled! Some battles you don’t fight, you flee. That chat you are still keeping, that relationship you are still managing, that office you enter alone with him – FLEE!
4. GOD’S FAVOUR IS CONDITIONAL ON YOUR PURITY
God’s favour was upon Joseph, but that favour would have been withdrawn if he slept with Potiphar’s wife. You want God’s favour to remain? Then you must reject offers that will make God withdraw. God’s presence does not stay where sin stays.
5. THE OFFER YOU REJECT TODAY IS THE NATION YOU WILL PRESERVE TOMORROW
If Joseph accepted, he would have become a houseboy boyfriend, not a Prime Minister. Israel would have died in famine. One decision preserved two nations. Your decision to say NO to that man, NO to that abortion, NO to that fraud, NO to that bribe – may be preserving your unborn children.
6. REAL LOVE THINKS ABOUT GENERATION, NOT JUST EMOTION
Joseph loved his father’s house more than his own pleasure. Many of us love pleasure more than posterity. Before you say “I love him,” ask “Can this love preserve my children?” Love that cannot preserve the next generation is lust.
7. A MOMENT OF PLEASURE CAN CREATE A LIFETIME OF PAIN FOR INNOCENT CHILDREN
You enjoyed the money alone, but now the child is suffering. You enjoyed that night alone, but now the baby has no father. Your decision is never about you alone. An innocent generation always pays for your wrong decision.
8. GOD WILL TEST YOU WITH AN OFFER BEFORE HE TRUSTS YOU WITH A NATION
Before God made Joseph Prime Minister of Egypt, He tested him with Potiphar’s wife. The test of the bedroom comes before the throne. If you fail in the secret place, you will never sit in the public place. That sugar mummy offer, that bribe, that sexting – is an exam.
9. WHAT YOU LOOSE FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, GOD WILL RESTORE WITH HONOUR
Joseph lost his garment, but God gave him a royal robe in the palace. He lost his position as a houseboy, but God gave him the palace. Anything you lose because you said NO to sin, God will restore double with honour.
10. THE PRESERVER MUST NOT FLOP
Joseph was the preserver of Israel. If the preserver flops, the people perish. You are the preserver of your family! Your family is looking up to you. If you flop into sin, into wrong marriage, into drugs, into fraud – who will preserve your house? You cannot afford to fail!
10 EFFECTS WHEN YOU ACCEPT THE WRONG OFFER – WHEN YOU REFUSE TO REJECT
1. YOU ABORT YOUR DIVINE FAVOUR AND COVERING:
When you accept what God told you to reject, God withdraws. The anointing that was protecting you leaves. Joseph would have lost the hand of God that was making him prosper. Many have lost favour because of one night, one deal.
2. YOU MORTGAGE YOUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE FOR YOUR PRESENT PLEASURE:
You enjoy today, but your children will pay tomorrow. That child born outside wedlock with no father, that child raised in a toxic marriage because you married money not character – that child is paying for your decision. You sold your generation for money and sex.
3. YOU BECOME A PRISONER INSTEAD OF A PRIME MINISTER:
Potiphar’s wife would have made Joseph a prisoner of sex. Sin always makes you a prisoner. That sugar daddy you think is helping you has imprisoned your destiny. You cannot move, you cannot marry, you cannot hear God again because someone is holding your garment.
4. YOU DISQUALIFY YOURSELF FROM PRESERVING YOUR FAMILY:
Israel was saved because Joseph was qualified. If Joseph had slept with Potiphar’s wife, he would have been disqualified from the palace. He would have remained a small boy in Potiphar’s house. When you accept wrong offers, you disqualify yourself from becoming the deliverer of your family.
5. YOU CREATE GENERATIONAL PATTERNS OF PAIN:
One wrong marriage decision creates divorce pattern for your children. One decision to sleep around creates promiscuity pattern. Your children learn what you lived. You rejected nothing, so your children will also reject nothing and repeat your pain.
6. YOU TRADE YOUR GARMENT OF HONOUR FOR SHAME:
Joseph left his garment, but kept his honour. Many today keep their garment but lose their honour. You keep the money, the phone, the car he bought, but you have lost your name. People respect you outside but they know what you do behind closed doors. Your garment is now in a strange hand.
7. YOU BUILD ON A FOUNDATION THAT CANNOT STAND:
Any relationship, job, or money that starts with sin cannot stand when storm comes. That job that requires you to sleep with boss to keep it – when boss is tired of you, you lose both job and dignity. It has no future. If you are no more, can your family rely on that job? No.
8. YOU TURN A TEMPORARY ENJOYMENT INTO PERMANENT BONDAGE:
The money he spends on you is sweet for 3 months. The sex is sweet for one night. But pregnancy, infection, broken heart, spiritual transfer is permanent. You exchanged 10 minutes of pleasure for 20 years of pain. The offer was temporary, but the effect is generational.
9. YOU CAUSE FAMINE IN YOUR OWN HOUSE:
If Joseph had failed, there would have been famine – no food. When you accept wrong offers, you bring famine to your own house. Famine of peace, famine of true love, famine of joy. Your house has money but no peace, has beauty but no preservation.
10. YOU LOSE YOUR VOICE AS A PRESERVER:
A preserver who flopped cannot speak again. How can you advise your daughter to be decent when you accepted sugar daddy? How can you advise your son to be faithful when you were sleeping around? You lose moral authority. Your children will not listen to you because you have no garment of honour again.
10 STRONG PRAYER POINTS FOR THE POWER TO REJECT WRONG OFFERS
1. Prayer For Discernment To Know What Offer To Reject:
Lord, not every open door is Your door. Some doors are traps. Give me eyes to see beyond money, beyond shape, beyond pleasure. Let me see the generation behind that offer.
_Declaration: Father, give me discerning eyes! I will not accept every offer! I will reject what will destroy my posterity, in Jesus name!_
2. Prayer For The Spirit Of Self-Control Like Joseph:
Potiphar’s wife caught him by force, but he had power inside to flee. Father, give me power over my flesh. I refuse to be controlled by money, sex, and greed.
_Declaration: I receive the Spirit of self-control! My flesh will not control my future! I will flee every appearance of evil, in Jesus name!_
3. Prayer Against Sugar Mummy, Sugar Daddy Spirits:
Every Mrs. Potiphar assigned to abort my destiny through sex, money and fake favour – I reject you! You will not hold my garment! I will not leave my glory in your hand!
_Declaration: Every strange man, strange woman assigned to destroy my destiny through offer, I reject you now! I flee from you, in Jesus name!_
4. Prayer For Grace To Think About Generation Before Decision:
Lord, deliver me from selfish decision making. Before I say yes to that man, that woman, that job, that deal – let me think about my children, my family, my next generation.
_Declaration: I will not make a decision that favours me alone! I will consider my generation before I decide, in Jesus name!_
5. Prayer For Restoration Of Lost Garment:
Many of us have already left our garment in wrong hands. Our dignity, our virginity, our honour is in the hands of someone. Lord, restore my garment!
_Declaration: My Father, every garment of my glory left in the hands of a strange man or woman, I recover it by fire, in Jesus name!_
6. Prayer For My Children Not To Pay For My Mistakes:
Father, I have made mistakes in relationships, in choices. Have mercy! Let my children not pay for my errors. Break the cycle of wrong offers in my lineage.
_Declaration: My children will not suffer for my wrong decisions! The mistake ends with me! My generation is preserved, in Jesus name!_
7. Prayer To Not Be A Flopping Preserver:
Lord, my family is looking up to me. My community is waiting for me. I am their Joseph. I refuse to flop! Hold me that I will not fail my generation.
_Declaration: I will not flop as a preserver! I will not fail my family! God will hold me to preserve my posterity, in Jesus name!_
8. Prayer Against Offers That Look Good But Are Death Traps:
That job with good pay but will take my soul, that relationship with money but will kill my dream, that deal that looks profitable but will destroy my name – expose it!
_Declaration: Every good-looking offer that is a trap of death for my destiny, be exposed and be rejected now, in Jesus name!_
9. Prayer For A Marriage That Preserves Generation:
That man I am choosing – will he be a good father? That woman – will she be a good mother? Lord, give me not a man with money only, but a man with character, with vision, who can preserve my children.
_Declaration: I will not marry money that will destroy me! I will marry character that will preserve my generation! Lead me to the right partner, in Jesus name!_
10. Prayer For Promotion After Passing The Test:
Joseph passed the test of Mrs. Potiphar and God promoted him from prison to palace. Father, I have said NO to sin, now promote me! Let my rejection become my elevation!
_Declaration: Because I rejected the wrong offer, I receive the right elevation! From prison to palace, from shame to fame, promote me now, in Jesus name!_
PROPHETIC CHARGE BY DR DR AGEORGIA:
Child of God! Not every offer deserves your YES! Some offers need your leg – FLEE! You are not just living for yourself! You are a preserver! If you flop, a generation flops!
Let your garment go, but keep your destiny!
