“And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die? If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die. And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians…”
INTRODUCTION
Four lepers were at the worst place – outside the city gate. Rejected by men, sick, hungry, and facing a national famine. If they enter the city, they die. If they sit at the gate, they die. Death was everywhere.
Then one of them asked a life-changing question that still shakes destinies today: “WHY SIT WE HERE TILL WE DIE?”
That question is the beginning of a bold decision.
Many people are not failing because God has forgotten them, they are failing because they are sitting at the gate of life, waiting to die slowly. They know their current position is not helping them, but they are afraid to move.
The lepers taught us: It is better to die trying than to die sitting. Their bold decision did not only save their lives – it saved an entire nation! When they took that step in the twilight, God amplified their footsteps and caused the Syrians to flee.

5 THINGS THAT MAKE US NOT TAKE BOLD DECISIONS
1. FEAR OF FAILURE (What if it doesn’t work?):
The lepers said “if they kill us, we shall but die.” They had already settled the worst outcome. Most people never move because they imagine failure before they start. Fear makes you a prisoner at the gate.
2. COMFORT IN SUFFERING (Familiarity with pain):
The gate was painful, but it was familiar. Many people prefer familiar pain to unfamiliar progress. They say “let me manage here” even though “here” is killing them.
3. WHAT WILL PEOPLE SAY (The opinion of men):
They were lepers – society had already rejected them. But many of us are caged by public opinion. “What will my family say if I start that business? What will people say if I leave this job?” You cannot take a bold decision if you are still seeking approval from everyone.
4. WAITING FOR PERFECT CONDITIONS (Analysis Paralysis):
They moved in the TWILIGHT – not morning, not afternoon. It was not a perfect time. It was dark and risky. Many wait for all money to be complete, all doors to be open. Bold decisions are never taken in perfect conditions; they CREATE perfect conditions.
5. LACK OF SELF-VALUE (I am just a leper):
Who listens to a leper? They had no title, no qualification. Many don’t take bold steps because they feel too small. But God does not need your qualification – He needs your availability. Your bold step is what gives you value.
5 THINGS TO DO TO TAKE A BOLD DECISION
1. ASK YOURSELF THE HONEST QUESTION:
Like the lepers, sit down and ask: “Why sit I here till I die?” Is this job, this relationship, this location, this mindset adding to me or killing me? Honesty breaks stagnation.
2. CALCULATE THE RISK AND ACCEPT IT:
They said, if we live, we live, if we die, we die. Life itself is a risk. Faith is not the absence of risk; it is moving despite the risk. Write down the worst that can happen and tell God – “I am ready, but I move.”
3. AGREE WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE:
The Bible says “they said ONE TO ANOTHER.” Bold decisions become easier when you have people who push you, not pull you. Isolate yourself from discouragers and connect with risk-takers.
4. RISE UP AND MOVE IN THE TWILIGHT:
They did not just talk – “they ROSE UP”. Decisions without action is still sitting at the gate. You must move. Send that proposal, start that small business, go back to school, call that helper. Your twilight is your starting time.
5. TRUST GOD TO AMPLIFY YOUR STEPS:
When they moved, God made their small footsteps sound like a great army. You do your part – the moving, God will do His part – the amplifying. God never sponsors laziness; He sponsors bold moves.
CONCLUSION – THE REWARD OF BOLDNESS
When the four lepers took that bold decision, they found food, wealth, clothing and they became the evangelists who brought good news to Samaria. Their bold decision ended a national famine!
One bold decision can end your family’s famine. One bold decision can change your story forever.
Don’t die at the gate!

1. Prayer for Courage to Rise:
Father, every spirit of fear and stagnation keeping me at the gate, I break loose from you today! I receive courage to take a bold decision, in Jesus’ name!

Oh Lord, as I take this bold step, order my footsteps to the right camp where my abundance is waiting. Let me not walk into destruction!
3. Prayer for Divine Amplification:
Father, as I move, amplify my small efforts. Let my little step produce great results. Turn my twilight movement into a mighty testimony!
4. Prayer Against the Voice of Discouragement:
Every voice telling me “you can’t make it, you are just a leper” – be silenced forever! I will not die at the gate of people’s opinions!
5. Prayer to be a Solution Carrier:
Lord, let my bold decision not only bless me but save my family and my generation. Make me a carrier of good news after this step!
Final Declaration:
I will no longer sit till I die. I rise, I move, I possess my abundance!
