The Asuogyaman District has commissioned six new educational facilities across various communities in a bid to improve access to quality education and reduce overcrowding in schools.

The commissioning ceremony took place yesterday, with the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, District Chief Executive for Asuogyaman, Hon. Godwin Bobobee, Eastern Regional Director of Education, Dr. Mrs. Ivy Asantewaa Owusu, District Director of Education, Mrs. Augustina Adwoa Owusu, traditional leaders, teachers, students and community members in attendance.

The newly completed classroom blocks are located in South Senchi, Adome, Aboasa, Tortibo, Asempanaye, and Asikuma Danso Krom.

Speaking at the event, officials noted that the projects represent more than just new classrooms, but an investment in the future of children and the communities.

According to them, the facilities will significantly reduce the long distances children have to travel to access education, help address overcrowding, create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning, and encourage increased enrolment.

They added that bringing schools closer to communities will also give parents greater peace of mind, as fears of road accidents and other safety concerns have kept some children at home.

“When we bring schools closer to our children, we bring opportunity closer to them. When we invest in education, we invest in the future of Asuogyaman,” an official stated.

The District Assembly expressed gratitude to all stakeholders whose commitment and support made the projects possible.

“Asuogyaman is moving forward,” they emphasized.
