ACCRA – The Ghana Health Service (GHS), together with its One Health partners, has completed a two-day Intra-Action Review (IAR) of Ghana’s response to the ongoing Mpox outbreak.

The review was aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the national response, highlighting key lessons and challenges, and identifying priority actions needed to completely bring the outbreak to an end.

According to data from the GHS, as of July 31, 2026, Ghana had recorded 5,280 suspected cases with 1,084 laboratory-confirmed cases. Out of the confirmed cases, 1,074 persons have recovered, with eight deaths recorded.

While Mpox cases have been reported across all 16 regions of the country, health authorities say active transmission has declined significantly in recent weeks, with current active cases now limited to only three districts in two regions.

The Intra-Action Review brought together key stakeholders to critically examine the response pillars and chart a more robust path towards ending the outbreak.

GHS is encouraging the public to continue to adhere to preventive measures and to report any suspected symptoms early to the nearest health facility.
