The Headmaster of St. Sebastian Catholic Senior High School (SHS) in Adumasa, within the Juaben Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti region, Mr. Steven Gyan, has made an earnest appeal for the enhancement of educational facilities. This request aims to accommodate the increasing student population and to replace the deteriorating infrastructure.
These appeals are generally directed towards the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Municipal Assembly, philanthropic organizations, and alumni associations. The goal is to secure funding for essential projects such as classroom blocks, dormitories, an administration block, an assembly hall, and a kitchen.
At present, the lack of adequate infrastructure significantly impedes the school’s capacity to provide quality education, with some classes forced to share limited spaces and, at times, conduct lessons under trees, Mr. Steven Gyan stated.
Mr. Steven Gyan respectfully appeals to local chiefs and religious leaders to consider the school for future infrastructure projects or to assist in providing the necessary resources to expand the facilities.
He expressed optimism that, with the support of the Municipal Assembly and other stakeholders, the school would be better equipped to deliver quality education to students in the region.
The Headmaster made this appeal during a handover and fundraising ceremony held at Adumasa.
The Catholic Bishop of the Konongo-Mampong Diocese, Most Rev. John Yaw Opoku Agyemang, has assured the school’s management that the Catholic institution will collaborate closely with them to ensure significant infrastructure development, thereby enhancing academic delivery.
He emphasized that the Konongo-Mampong Diocese remains committed to supporting educational institutions across the municipality to ensure equitable access to quality education and improved learning outcomes.
Additionally, the Project Manager of the school, Mr. Oppong Kyekyeku, shared his perspective on the school’s situation and implored the chiefs, Catholic churches, and the surrounding communities to provide financial support.
