A video circulating on social media has prompted widespread concern in Ghana, with many people calling on the Ghana Police Service to intervene and ensure the safety of a teenage girl featured in the footage.

According to accounts shared with the video, the girl alleges that during a previous encounter, something was added to her drink without her knowledge, after which she was sexually assaulted.

She also states that in the current incident, she was taken to a location where she was asked to smoke, and expresses distress about her relationship with the young man.

The statements have led to calls for the police and the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to investigate the matter, locate the girl, and provide her with medical, psychological, and legal support.

Child rights advocates are urging the public not to share the video further to avoid re-victimization and to protect the girl’s privacy.

Under Ghanaian law, cases involving minors and allegations of sexual assault are treated as priority matters by DOVVSU. If you have information that could assist police, you can contact the nearest police station or DOVVSU office.
