The Dabala 24-Hour Economy Market Project officially moved into its implementation stage on Monday, 11th May 2026, following the handing over of the project site to contractors and consultants.

The ceremony brought together government officials, traditional leaders, NDC executives, engineers, consultants and stakeholders across South Tongu.

Speaking at the event, the MP for South Tongu, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, thanked H.E. John Dramani Mahama for fulfilling his commitment to the people through the commencement of the project under the NDC’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the constituency and dismissed reports suggesting the market would be relocated from Dabala to Sogakope.

The MP also noted that, unlike in the past, the current administration is ensuring that projects are awarded with available funding to guarantee smooth execution and completion.

He further disclosed that his office facilitated the preparation of the site plan and necessary documentation for the project.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, urged residents and stakeholders to support the project and avoid unnecessary disputes that could delay progress.

When completed, the market is expected to create jobs, boost trade and strengthen economic activities across South Tongu.
