_Isaiah 40:31 – “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”_

_Daniel 11:32 – “…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”_

You cannot wait for someone you don’t know. Before you wait for someone or something, you must know WHO you are waiting for or WHAT you are waiting to receive.

Many believers know God but don’t wait, and those who are waiting don’t know Him. The Bible asks, “How shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?”

Knowing God is the first step before we can wait upon Him.

There is a difference:

Waiting FOR God means if He doesn’t come, you have another option.

Waiting UPON God means without Him, you have NO OPTION.

A Christian has no option than to wait UPON God, because without Him, we can do nothing. We are not just waiting FOR God, we are waiting UPON Him.

5 REASONS WHY A BELIEVER CANNOT AFFORD NOT TO WAIT UPON GOD

1. Because our strength fails, but His strength is renewed in waiting.
Without waiting, we run on empty. In His presence, our strength is exchanged for His strength.

2. Because without Him, we have no direction.
He is our compass. Outside of waiting upon Him, we walk in confusion and make costly mistakes. Psalm 32:8

3. Because waiting is where we gain wings to rise above the storm.
Those who don’t wait remain on the ground, fighting every battle. Those who wait mount up like eagles – they rise ABOVE what wants to bury them.

4. Because exploits only come by knowing Him.
Daniel 11:32 says those who KNOW their God shall do exploits. You cannot know Him deeply without waiting upon Him.

5. Because waiting upon Him is proof of absolute trust.
To wait upon Him is to say, “Lord, if You don’t do it, it cannot be done.” It is total dependence, and God honors absolute trust.

5 WAYS WE CAN WAIT UPON GOD

1. Through the Word: Waiting is not passive. Open His Word daily. Let Him speak to you before you speak to Him. You get to know Him through His Word.

2. Through Intense Prayer & Groaning: Not casual, rushed prayers. But tarrying, travailing, until your spirit connects with His. Luke 18:1

3. Through Fasting: Fasting quiets the flesh so the spirit can hear. It is a deliberate waiting that says “You are more important than my appetite.”

4. Through Worship and Thanksgiving: Sometimes your waiting is not in words, but in worship. In thanksgiving even when you have not yet seen the answer.

5. Through Stillness and Obedience: Psalm 46:10 – “Be still and know that I am God.” Waiting is also staying still when you want to run, and obeying the last instruction He gave you while you wait for the next.

5 STRONG PRAYER DECLARATIONS

Declare this aloud:

1. Father, as I wait upon You today, renew my strength! I exchange my weakness for Your power, in Jesus’ name!

2. Lord, I have no other option but You. Without You I am nothing and can do nothing. I depend totally on You!

3. In the name of Jesus, I mount up with wings as an eagle! I rise above every affliction, above every limitation, above every storm!

4. My Father, as I wait upon You, open my eyes to know You more. Lead me into exploits and make my life a testimony of Your power!

5. I decree, I will run and not be weary, I will walk and not faint! I will not give up, I will not fall, because the Lord is my strength!

*Amen.
