The Osudoku Youth Association (OYA) has presented a seven-point petition to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, calling for urgent government intervention in key agricultural, infrastructure, sanitation and water challenges affecting communities in the Osudoku area.
The petition was presented on Monday, 14th September 2026, at the Asutsuare Lorry Station.
According to OYA, the demands are aimed at protecting local farmers, improving infrastructure and addressing basic development needs across Osudoku.
THE SEVEN DEMANDS ARE:
1. Reduce Foreign Rice Importation – OYA says locally produced rice has been left to rot for over a year and is calling for measures to support local rice production and consumption.
2. Provide Fertilizer to Kpong Irrigation Scheme Farmers – The association is demanding an end to the alleged denial of fertilizer support to farmers operating under the scheme.
3. Fix the Asutsuare–Akuse and Asutsuare Junction Roads – OYA is calling for urgent attention to roads connecting farming communities and major routes.
4. Complete Kpong Irrigation Scheme Phase 2 – The youth association wants the long-delayed project completed to boost agricultural productivity.
5. Complete the Asutsuare Market – OYA is demanding the completion of the market to improve trading activities and create better facilities for local businesses.
6. Provide Public Toilet Facilities for Osudoku – The association is calling for improved sanitation infrastructure across the area.
7. Provide Potable Water – OYA is demanding reliable access to safe drinking water for communities including Duffor, Abuvienya, Kasunya and Agortor, among others.
The association says these demands reflect the concerns of farmers, traders, young people and residents whose livelihoods depend heavily on agriculture and basic public infrastructure.
