“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Every man is governed by a spirit. You are not just wearing clothes, you are feeding a spirit that lives inside you.
Every spirit has a uniform. Every spirit has a dress code that makes it comfortable to stay. When you keep feeding a spirit what it loves, it stays with you permanently. When you stop, it leaves.
Indecent dressing and exposing your nakedness is not civilization, it is not beauty, it is not fashion. It is a spiritual feeding. You are feeding the spirit inside you with what it desires.
God Himself is a Spirit, and He also has His own dress code for the bodies He dwells in. That is why He said we should dress MODESTLY. Satan also is a spirit and has his own dress code for his people.
We are ambassadors. An ambassador must promote the brand of his country. When they see you, they must see Christ. Your dressing is your first evangelism before you open your mouth.
Your service to God is not only in your heart, it is also in your physical appearance. “Present your bodies… holy and acceptable.” Your body is the Temple of God.
WHAT IS MODEST DRESSING?
Modesty is not old fashion, modesty is not poverty. Modesty is not wearing dirty clothes.
Modesty means 3 things:
1. Covered: A modest dress covers your nakedness. It does not expose your breast, your thighs, your waist, your private parts. God made the first clothes for Adam and Eve to COVER them, not to expose them. Genesis 3:21.
2. Moderate and Decent: It is not tight, not transparent, not provocative. It does not draw attention to your sexuality but to your dignity. You can look beautiful and elegant without looking seductive.
3. Christ-Conscious: Before you wear it, you ask: Can Jesus wear this? Can I pray in this? Can I win a soul in this? If you cannot answer yes, it is not modest. Modesty projects God, not flesh.
The Bible says: “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning… but let it be the hidden man of the heart” – 1 Peter 3:3-4. A woman’s beauty is her character, not her cleavage. A man’s dignity is his godliness, not his sagging.
5 EFFECTS OF INDECENT DRESSING
1. It Drives Away the Holy Spirit and Invites Unclean Spirits: Your body is a temple. When you dress to seduce, you are decorating the temple for another god. The Holy Spirit is Holy; He cannot dwell comfortably in a body that is deliberately exposing itself for lust.
2. It Becomes a Weapon Against Others: Matthew 5:28 says if you cause a man to lust after you, you have already caused him to commit adultery in his heart. Your indecent dressing can make others fall, and God will require their blood from your hand.
3. It Reduces Your Value and Invites Wrong People: You attract what you project. If you project sex, you will attract sex-minded people, not destiny helpers. Men will come to use you, not to value you. Indecent dressing sells your body cheap.
4. It Destroys Your Christian Witness: You cannot preach holiness with a harlot’s appearance. Romans 2:24 says “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.” Your dressing can close the Bible before you preach it.
5. It Opens Doors to Spiritual Attacks: Nakedness in the Bible is always associated with shame and demonic oppression – Noah, Ham, Saul. When you expose what God said should be covered, you remove spiritual covering and expose yourself to lust demons, rape, rejection and marital delay.
5 SOLUTIONS – HOW TO OVERCOME INDECENT DRESSING
1. Renew Your Mind: Romans 12:2 says be transformed by renewing your mind. Indecent dressing starts from a corrupted mind. Study the Word about your identity. Know you are a royal priesthood, not a sex object. When your mind changes, your wardrobe will change.
2. Understand You Are a Living Sacrifice: A sacrifice on the altar does not dress itself – the priest dresses it. Let God dress you. Every morning surrender your body: “Lord, dress me today to glorify you.” Present your body to God, not to Instagram.
3. Audit Your Wardrobe and Your Spirit: Check your wardrobe. If 70% of your clothes cannot be worn to pray, to church, or to see your father, burn them. Also check who you follow, what you watch. The spirit you feed with pornographic music videos will demand naked dressing.
4. Dress for Your Future, Not for Likes: Dress like the queen you want to become, not like the culture that is trending. Elegance is more expensive than nakedness. Choose clothes that command respect, not attention. A responsible husband, a godly wife, and a serious helper will respect modesty.
5. Submit to Godly Mentorship and Accountability: Don’t dress in isolation. Let a mature believer, your pastor, your spouse or a godly mother check you. Pride says “my body my choice” – humility says “my body is God’s temple.”
5 STRONG PRAYER POINTS
1. Prayer for Sanctification of the Body:
Father, I present my body to you today as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable. Forgive me for using my body to serve lust. Sanctify me inside and outside, in Jesus name!
2. Prayer Against the Spirit of Lust and Seduction:
Every spirit behind indecent dressing, spirit of Jezebel, spirit of seduction living in me, I cast you out today! I receive the Spirit of holiness to govern my life!
3. Prayer for Renewed Mind:
Lord, renew my mind. Deliver me from worldly fashion and the pressure to conform. Give me the understanding of true beauty and dignity in Christ!
4. Prayer for Restoration of Value:
Oh Lord, wherever my indecent dressing has reduced my value and brought wrong people into my life, have mercy and restore my dignity. Let me attract destiny helpers, not destiny destroyers!
5. Prayer to Become God’s Ambassador:
Father, from today, let my appearance preach you. When men see me, let them see Jesus. I receive grace to dress to glorify you everywhere I go!
Final Word: God is not looking for expensive dressing, He is looking for expressive dressing – dressing that expresses His holiness in you.
