The District Chief Executive (DCE) for North Tongu, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, joined the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and the Member of Parliament for North Tongu and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to launch the 70th Anniversary Celebration of Catholic Hospital, Battor.
The event was held under the theme “Continuing Christ’s Mission Through Exceptional Healthcare” and brought together the Catholic Church, management and staff of the hospital, and other distinguished guests to mark seven decades of dedicated service.
Seven decades of healthcare service
Addressing the gathering, stakeholders celebrated the hospital’s immense contribution to healthcare delivery in North Tongu, the Volta Region and beyond.
For 70 years, Catholic Hospital, Battor has served as a beacon of hope, with a strong reputation in obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, oncology, and cervical cancer research and treatment.
New projects announced for the hospital
The anniversary launch also brought positive news for the future of the facility.
The Government of Ghana reaffirmed its commitment to support the construction of a modern, expanded and well-equipped theatre. The GH¢3.3 million Legacy Theatre Project is expected to significantly enhance surgical care and save lives.
Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa also announced a personal donation of GH¢100,000 towards the construction of a kindergarten to support hospital staff and young parents.

Hon. Victoria Doe congratulated the Catholic Church, management, staff and all stakeholders of Catholic Hospital, Battor on the remarkable milestone.
She wished the institution many more years of compassionate, quality and life-saving healthcare.
