The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has pledged his full support for the successful organization of the 6th Inter-Regional Wheelchair Basketball Competition scheduled for Ho.
This follows a courtesy call by the leadership of the Volta Para Sports and Mobility Empowerment Association (VPMEA), led by its President, Madam Betty Gharbin.
Tournament to promote inclusion
The delegation briefed the Minister on the competition, which is set for 14th–17th August 2026 at the Ho Sports Stadium.
According to VPMEA, the event seeks to promote inclusion and empower persons with disabilities through sports across the country.
Minister’s support
Commending the Association for its efforts, Hon. James Gunu reaffirmed the Volta Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to inclusive development.
To support the tournament, the Minister donated GH¢10,000, bags of rice, and facilitated transport and security arrangements for the event.
He also wished all participating teams a successful and peaceful competition.
The Inter-Regional Wheelchair Basketball Competition brings together para-athletes from various regions to compete and raise awareness on disability sports in Ghana.
