LEKLEBI, VOLTA REGION – A fire outbreak has destroyed parts of the boys’ dormitory at Leklebi Senior High School in the Volta Region, with extensive damage to property including the personal belongings of the Senior Housemaster.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, while academic activities were ongoing. According to reports, the fire started in the Senior Housemaster’s room before spreading to other parts of the dormitory.
Speaking on the _Akpini Daybreak Show_ on Akpini Radio 96.7 FM, hosted by Godwin Adenyo, on Monday, July 27, the Assembly Member for Leklebi Duga Electoral Area, Hon. Fia Albert, said the Senior Housemaster lost everything in the blaze.
> “The Senior Housemaster lost all his personal belongings in the fire, including money, clothing, and other valuables. He was left with only the shirt he was wearing when the incident occurred,” Hon. Fia stated.
The Assembly Member has appealed to government, individuals, corporate bodies, and benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the school and the affected Senior Housemaster.
On the possible cause of the fire, Hon. Fia said investigations are ongoing. He noted suspicions that a power fluctuation or sudden voltage surge following a power outage could have triggered the outbreak.
> “The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established, as the Ghana National Fire Service is investigating the incident and is expected to issue a report on the actual cause,” he added.
He urged stakeholders and the general public to support the school as it works to recover from the incident.
