ACCRA – July 22nd 2026
President has officially signed into law the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) Act, repealing the old *Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Act.
The new law is expected to reposition Ghana as a leading investment destination in Africa and beyond by simplifying business processes and cutting bureaucratic red tape.
Key highlights of the GIPA Act include:
– Enhanced investor protection through a stronger legal framework for both local and foreign investors
– Improved institutional capacity with expanded powers for the Authority to promote, facilitate, and monitor investments
– Support for local enterprise to help Ghanaian businesses scale and play a bigger role in the investment ecosystem
Government says the Act is a bold step to accelerate economic growth, create jobs, and establish Ghana as the top investment hub in West Africa.
