Yaseer Arafat, a teacher at Bole Senior High School, has publicly addressed the recent disciplinary action taken against him by the Ghana Education Service (GES) following an incident involving a student in the school’s science laboratory.
Arafat characterized the occurrence as accidental rather than intentional, appealing to the public for forgiveness in light of the measures imposed against him.
“It was an accident and not intentional. The school year has concluded, and I intended to retrieve an item from the science lab when the unfortunate event transpired,” he stated in a video shared on social media.
The teacher acknowledged the wrongdoing of his actions and requested leniency from the authorities.
“I recognize that my conduct was inappropriate, and I would be grateful even if the government assigns me to a remote village for teaching,” he remarked.
This statement follows the GES’s decision to interdict him, suspend his salary pending an investigation, and initiate procedures to ascertain the details surrounding the incident.
Additionally, the Ministry of Education has urged law enforcement agencies to assist in locating him after reports indicated that he had gone into hiding.
