On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA) and its funding partner, the European Union, acknowledged the exemplary performance of the North Tongu District Assembly for its significant achievement in the 2025 Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT). The Assembly secured the 5th position out of 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) nationwide, while also being recognized as the top-performing Assembly in the Volta Region.
This accolade underscores a collective commitment to transparency, accountability, prudent financial management, and excellence in local governance. Upon receiving the award, Honorable District Chief Executive Victoria Amefadze dedicated this achievement to the diligent staff of the Assembly, the Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Presiding Member, Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, traditional authorities, and the esteemed stakeholders whose unwavering dedication continues to propel the development of North Tongu.
