Today, the residents of Akuse Osokutu participated in a community engagement event organized by the Assembly Member, during which the renovated public toilet facility was officially inaugurated for use.
During his address to the residents, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Lower Manya Krobo, Honorable John Atteh Matey, revealed that the renovation of the toilet facility was accomplished through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement. The MCE explained that a private investor financed the rehabilitation of the facility and will manage it until the investment is recuperated.
However, details concerning the total cost of the project, the duration of the recovery period, and the terms of the agreement were not disclosed to the public during the engagement. Consequently, some residents have called for increased transparency regarding the PPP arrangement.
Regarding the issue of roads, the MCE assured residents that, following numerous concerns raised by the people of Akuse about the poor condition of roads in the area, the road project has now been awarded to a contractor.
He further stated that representatives from the contracting firm have already visited Akuse to inspect the roads, including several inner roads within the township. The inspection exercise was reportedly conducted in the presence of Honorable Ernest Kpeli and other relevant stakeholders as part of the preparations for the commencement of construction works.
Residents have expressed hope that the contractor will commence work soon, as road infrastructure remains one of the most pressing concerns facing the community.
