The Nkwanta District Police Command has commenced investigations into the murder of a 36-year-old man, identified as Thomas Adon, at Keri in the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region.
According to a press release issued by the Oti Regional Police Headquarters on June 8, 2026, a Joint Police-Military Team responded to reports of a shooting incident in the community. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple suspected gunshot wounds.
Police disclosed that a search conducted around the crime scene led to the recovery of a piece of wood, fifteen spent cartridges, and five live BB and AA cartridges, all of which have been secured as exhibits to aid investigations.
The body of the deceased has since been conveyed to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Mortuary in Nkwanta for preservation and post-mortem examination.
Security officials have assured residents that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrators behind the killing. The Joint Security Team also met with chiefs, elders, and family members of the deceased to offer condolences and reassure them of a thorough, impartial, and professional investigation.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid any acts of retaliation that could threaten peace and security in the area. The police further appealed to the public to volunteer any credible information that may assist ongoing investigations.
