A 27-year-old man, Mohammed Rafiu, has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of breaking into a church and stealing musical equipment in Hohoe in the Volta Region.

The incident occurred on June 5, 2026, when some residents spotted Rafiu carrying a sack and hurriedly trying to board a vehicle near Faith International Ministry Church. The incident occurred on June 5, 2026, when some residents spotted Rafiu carrying a sack and hurriedly trying to board a vehicle near Faith International Ministry Church.

His behaviour raised suspicion, prompting them to stop and inspect the contents of the sack.

The items found in his possession included an amplifier, an equalizer, a mixer and a crossover machine, all of which were later identified as property belonging to the church.

Rafiu was arrested and handed over to the Hohoe Police District. During investigations, he admitted to unlawfully entering the church and stealing the equipment.

He was subsequently arraigned before the Hohoe Circuit Court on June 8, where he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court sentenced him to three years imprisonment for unlawful entry and four years for stealing.
