Michael Owusu, a Kumasi-based shoemaker, says he was arrested after posting a TikTok video showing what appeared to be a razor blade inside a sachet of Special Ice Mineral Water.
He alleges that officers lured him into sharing his location under the guise of delivering a birthday gift before arresting him and transporting him to Accra.
Owusu claims he was assaulted by police and held in custody for nine days before securing bail. He was later charged with publishing false news with intent to disturb public peace.
While Special Ice says it reported the matter to police for investigation, legal experts have questioned the force used in the arrest and the prolonged detention over what is considered a misdemeanour offence.
