Mrs. Rhoda Arthur, Principal Community Relations Officer of the VRA, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to supporting education within its operational communities. While presenting 6,500 educational items in Sokpoe, she emphasized that the VRA views education as the essential foundation for creating opportunities and remains dedicated to social interventions, including scholarships, to impact the lives of the next generation.

The presentation in Sokpoe is the latest in a series of nationwide interventions under the VRA Community Development Programme (CDP). The Authority has consistently extended similar support across its operational areas in the Volta, Eastern, Oti, Western, and Greater Accra regions. For instance, in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region, the VRA recently provided stationery and waste management tools to Nkonya Ntsumuru E.P. Primary and Bowiri Kwame-Krom D/A.

In the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region, the Authority’s impact was felt through the distribution of over 2,000 core subject textbooks to Senior High Schools: Akwamuman SHS and Boso SHTS to improve WASSCE performance.

This commitment often extends beyond physical supplies; the VRA recently engaged students at Sogakope Senior High School through its Employee Volunteer Programme, where staff provided hands-on career mentorship and STEM coaching to the students.

To ensure no community is left behind, the VRA has even utilized innovative delivery methods, including drone technology, to deliver school bags and supplies to 16,000 children across 30 basic schools in remote areas. These stationery donations complement the long-running VRA Scholarship Scheme, which has supported over 500 students at the SHS and Tertiary levels since 2011.

VRA continues to ensure that students in its host communities have the necessary resources to excel academically through combining material donations with financial aid and professional mentorship.
