President John Dramani Mahama has announced major development projects for the Volta Region during a community engagement and Q&A session in Ho as part of his #ResettingGhana Tour.
Addressing residents, traditional leaders, students and civil society groups, the President outlined government plans in healthcare, education, infrastructure, transport and economic development.
*Healthcare*
President Mahama said government will upgrade the Hohoe Municipal Hospital into the Volta Regional Hospital. The Ho Teaching Hospital will also be strengthened as the region’s premier teaching and referral facility.
Feasibility studies and designs for the Hohoe project will begin in the coming months.
Infrastructure & Transport
He reaffirmed commitment to the National Railway Master Plan, including the Eastern Corridor Railway, to boost freight movement and reduce pressure on roads.
The President also cited ongoing road investments and the revival of the Adidome Water Project to improve water supply.
*Education*
On education, he announced plans to:
1. Continue distributing *digital learning devices
2. Construct more secondary schools
3. Upgrade Ohawu Agricultural College into a full agricultural university
He also announced free tertiary education for persons with disabilities in public institutions.
Inclusion & Governance
To promote inclusivity, the President said sign language interpreters will be engaged at major health facilities.
On jobs, he explained that government size had been reduced for efficiency, but assured party supporters and qualified citizens that national service opportunities will continue.
President Mahama concluded by assuring Volta residents of sustained investment to improve livelihoods and accelerate development.
