ASIKUMAH, GHANA — Students of Asikumah Presby Basic School now have direct access to digital learning tools following the official commissioning of a new 20-seater computer laboratory donated by Telecel Ghana through the Telecel Foundation.
The state-of-the-art facility, fully financed by the Telecel Foundation, was handed over to the school on [insert date] at a ceremony attended by school authorities, community leaders, parents, and students.
The project was made possible through the lobbying efforts of the Assembly Member for the area, *Hon. Faustina Tilla*, who described the lab as a major milestone in community education.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Hon. Tilla expressed gratitude to Telecel Ghana for responding to the needs of the school. She said the absence of ICT infrastructure had been a major challenge for both teachers and pupils, especially with the introduction of ICT in the new curriculum.
> “Today marks a new chapter for Asikumah Presby Basic School. Our children can now compete with their peers across the country. I want to thank Telecel Foundation for this kind gesture and for investing in the future of our children,” she stated.
A representative from the Telecel Foundation noted that the donation forms part of the company’s commitment to bridging the digital divide in underserved communities across Ghana. The lab is equipped with 20 desktop computers, furniture, and internet connectivity to support teaching and learning.
The Headteacher of Asikumah Presby Basic School, on behalf of staff and students, thanked Telecel and Hon. Tilla for the intervention. He pledged that the facility would be well maintained and fully utilized to improve ICT literacy among pupils.
Community members who were present also commended the partnership, saying the computer lab will not only benefit current students but also serve as a resource for future generations.
The management of Asikumah Presby Basic School says it will work with teachers to integrate the new lab into daily lessons to enhance learning outcomes.
