The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has reached an agreement with Ghanaian agribusiness firm ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd to establish a $50 million organic fertiliser blending facility in the Eastern Region.

The facility is expected to increase domestic production of organic fertiliser, improve soil health, reduce reliance on imported chemical fertiliser, and support the implementation of government’s Feed Ghana Programme.

The agreement was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Accra on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, and the Director of ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd, Mr Samuel Adimado, signed for their respective institutions. It was witnessed by the Chief Director of MoFA, Mr Paul Siameh, and the Managing Director of ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd, Rev. Mark Nyantakyi.

500,000 Metric Tonnes Capacity

The plant, when completed, will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 metric tonnes, enough to supply farmers not only in Ghana but across the sub-region. It is also expected to create jobs, particularly for youth and agriculture graduates.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Hon. Eric Opoku said organic fertiliser has significant benefits for food production and soil health.

“Agriculture is shifting towards that direction because the food we produce is meant for consumption. And even before production, we need to protect the health of the soil,” he said.

He stressed that the Ministry would not entertain agreements that remain on paper, urging the company to commence work within days.

“We want to see real action on the ground… The Ministry will also prepare itself to take up some of your produce to support the Feed Ghana Programme,” he added.

On his part, Mr Samuel Adimado said the investment is intended to contribute to sustainable agriculture, noting that the organic-based fertiliser will provide essential nutrients to crops while improving soil structure and water-holding capacity to boost yields.
