The Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, Hon. Alexander Roosevelt Gabby Hottordze, has commissioned a newly constructed health kiosk at Mafi Asiekpe in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The facility, commissioned on September 17, 2026, is expected to bring basic healthcare services closer to residents of Mafi Asiekpe and surrounding communities, reducing long-distance travel for medical attention.
It will serve as a point for health education, preliminary medical care, maternal and child health services, and referrals where necessary.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Hottordze stressed the importance of improving access to healthcare at the community level, noting that provision of health infrastructure remains essential to ensuring children, pregnant women, nursing mothers and the elderly can access services promptly.
He encouraged residents to take ownership of the facility, keep the premises clean and support health workers assigned to the community.
Community leaders and residents expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as significant in improving healthcare access, and appealed for continued support to equip the facility with necessary medical supplies, equipment and personnel.
The commissioning forms part of broader efforts to improve social infrastructure and bring essential public services closer to communities across Central Tongu.
