Two suspected landguards, 29-year-old Gabriel Abotsi Ahor and 32-year-old Benjamin Essel, reportedly broke down in uncontrollable tears and went on their knees to plead with the Accra Circuit Court after being remanded into custody.
The two are facing charges of conspiracy to commit crime, namely landguard activities, and conspiracy to commit crime, namely causing unlawful damage.
According to court proceedings, the suspects allegedly invaded a complainant’s construction site at East Legon on July 15, demolished an uncompleted building and assaulted workers on site.
They were arrested and subsequently arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court.
However, drama unfolded in court when the judge ordered that they be remanded into custody pending further proceedings. The suspects, who had earlier appeared bold, could not hold back their tears and fell on their knees, begging the court not to remand them.
The court declined their plea and remanded them.
The case has since sparked reactions on social media, with many noting that, _”You would think you are brave, until the law cages you.”_
The accused persons are expected to reappear before the court as investigations continue.
