The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asuogyaman, Hon. Godwin Bobobee, has held a town hall engagement with food vendors and market women operating around the Atimpoku Roundabout, following concerns and reports circulating on social media about the quality and safety of food sold in the area.
The engagement, held on September 10, 2026, provided an opportunity for the Assembly and the food vendors to openly discuss the concerns, particularly those surrounding popular local foods such as Abolo, Wɔvi and other delicacies sold to travellers, residents and visitors who patronize the area.
Addressing the gathering, the DCE stressed that the concerns circulating on social media should not be allowed to unfairly damage the reputation and livelihoods of hardworking food vendors. He noted that the food sold at the Atimpoku Roundabout is prepared and served with attention to quality and hygiene, and encouraged the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary fear and undermine local businesses.
Hon. Bobobee, however, urged the vendors to continuously uphold high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, proper handling and presentation, emphasizing that maintaining public confidence must remain a shared responsibility between the Assembly and the vendors.
He further called on the food vendors to unite and work together as one organized group, rather than allowing petty partisan political differences to divide them. According to him, their common interest should be the growth of their businesses, the protection of their livelihoods and maintaining the good image of Atimpoku as a major gateway and commercial centre.
The DCE encouraged the vendors to put aside political and personal differences and focus on issues that directly affect their businesses and the welfare of the community. He assured them of the Assembly’s willingness to engage with them regularly and support initiatives that promote a clean, safe and vibrant trading environment.
The engagement forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to strengthen collaboration with local businesses and ensure that concerns affecting traders, consumers and the wider community are addressed through dialogue rather than misinformation.
Atimpoku Roundabout remains a vibrant food and commercial hub, and the Assembly is committed to working with the vendors to maintain the confidence of residents, travellers and visitors who patronise their businesses.
