Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged Ghanaian youth to use digital platforms responsibly and desist from spreading prejudice, misinformation and divisive content.
According to her, while technology and digital platforms have the potential to deepen divisions in society, they can also be harnessed to promote knowledge, create opportunities and build peaceful communities.
She made the call while speaking at the 2026 West Africa Youth Days in Accra, organized by the Regional Episcopal Conference of West Africa and hosted by the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang encouraged young people to make constructive use of digital tools and emerging technologies to contribute positively to national development and called for sustained efforts to improve education and expand opportunities for the youth.
Meanwhile, the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Most Rev. Matthew Kwasi Gyamfi, urged the youth to remain courageous and hopeful despite challenges facing the sub-region, including economic hardships, youth unemployment and violent extremism.
He admonished them not to give in to fear or despair.
