Acting Commissioner of Rent Control, Frederick Opoku, has warned tenants that paying rent does not automatically protect them from eviction.

Speaking on Neat FM, Mr. Opoku said tenants could be evicted for certain behaviours, including bringing multiple men or women into a rented home.

“This happens because, in our tradition, children learn from us. So, if you bring multiple men or women into the house, you can be evicted because the children will learn from that,” he said.

He also cautioned tenants who fall behind on their rent and urged both landlords and tenants to understand and comply with Ghana’s rent laws.
