DAILY NEWSFLASH – Tanker drivers in the Ashanti Region have suspended their industrial action following assurances from BOST Energies to address complaints over faulty discharge meters and parking shortages.
The strike, which began on Monday, 17 August 2026, was called off after an emergency meeting between the drivers’ association executives and BOST management.
During the meeting, BOST officials committed to resolving the grievances within 30 days.
Normal operations resumed on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, at the BOST Kaase depot in Kumasi, with drivers loading and offloading petroleum products. This has eased fears of fuel supply disruptions across the region.
The drivers had laid down their tools to demand immediate technical fixes for newly installed discharge meters, which they say were giving inaccurate volume readings and leading to wrongful arrests and financial penalties.
They also called for dedicated, off-road parking facilities to eliminate hazardous roadside parking around the depot.
Dominic Brenya, Regional Vice Chairman of the drivers’ association, confirmed the suspension but said members remain on high alert.
> “We will not hesitate to reactivate the strike if our grievances are not resolved as promised during the meeting,” Mr Brenya said.
