North Tongu District, Volta Region – The Volta Regional Communication Outfit, led by *Regional Communication Officer, Kafui Agbleze, and his Deputy, Del Bright Kugbeadzor, has commenced a regional tour to monitor and document ongoing government projects across the Volta Region.
The exercise began in *North Tongu District, where the team is assessing infrastructure projects being undertaken under the H.E. John Dramani Mahama-led government. The goal is to document progress, highlight community impact, and provide the public with accurate updates on development across the district and the wider region.
North Tongu currently has more than 15 ongoing and completed projects spanning education, health, and road infrastructure.
EDUCATION INFRASTRUCTURE
The team, accompanied by the Constituency Communication Team, Constituency Secretary, and Branch Communication Officers, visited several schools to inspect projects.
Aveyime Battor Senior High School (ABA SEC.)
– A *modern dining hall* under construction with a spacious dining area, washrooms, kitchen space, dry and cold stores, a rest and changing room for kitchen staff, and a holding area for meals.
– A one-storey boys’ dormitory block under construction with 12 resting compartments, washrooms, and an ironing bay.
– A two-storey girls’ dormitory block under construction.
– A completed and commissioned STEM classroom project to strengthen science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.
Other Education Projects Inspected:
– Construction of a dining hall at DORSEC
– Construction of a two-storey girls’ dormitory at Aveyime SHS
– Construction of a two-storey girls’ and boys’ dormitory block with dining hall at Volo E-Block Senior High School
– Construction of a 2-unit KG block with ancillary facilities at Tagadzi
– Completed and commissioned KG facility at Aveyime Methodist Basic School
– Ongoing infrastructure works at St. Kizito SHS, Battor SHS, and other schools in the district
These projects are expected to improve access to quality education, address accommodation challenges, and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE
The team also inspected health projects aimed at improving access to care:
– Construction of the Volo Child and Maternity Centre
– Construction of the Fodzoku Child and Maternity Centre
– Construction of a CHPS Compound and Nurses’ Quarters at Afaode
– Completed Juapong Child and Maternity Centre
The facilities are expected to improve maternal and child healthcare, especially for communities that previously had to travel long distances for essential services.
ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE
Major road projects at various stages of construction were also assessed:
1. Sege–Aveyime–Battor–Mepe Road – 33-kilometre road project ongoing to improve connectivity, movement of people and goods, and support economic activity.
2. Aveyime–Asutuare–Volivo–Dofor Road – Ongoing construction to improve accessibility for communities along the corridor.
3. Atimpoku–Juapong–Asikuma Drains – Ongoing drainage works to improve water management and address flooding challenges.
APPRECIATION
The Volta Regional Communication Outfit commended H.E. John Dramani Mahama for the significant infrastructure investments in North Tongu and across the Volta Region.
It also expressed appreciation to Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu, and *Hon. Victoria Doe, District Chief Executive for North Tongu, for their commitment to ensuring the people of North Tongu benefit from these development projects.
“The ongoing and completed projects across education, health, and roads represent significant investments in the future of the people of North Tongu. They demonstrate a commitment to improving infrastructure, expanding access to essential services, enhancing educational opportunities, strengthening healthcare delivery, and improving connectivity,” the Outfit stated.
The Volta Regional Communication Outfit says it will continue its monitoring exercise across all districts in the region to document project progress and keep the public informed.
