Mepe, North Tongu District – Young athletes representing North Tongu District have received a major morale boost with the presentation of branded sports kits ahead of the 55th Annual Basic School Sports Festival.
The donation was made on Friday, 14th August 2026 at the North Tongu Education Directorate, Mepe, by the Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
Kits Donated to Boost Team Spirit
The package includes:
– 100 tracksuits
– 50 athlete jerseys for boys and girls
– 14 netball jerseys
– 24 volleyball jerseys
– 40 football jerseys
The items are expected to equip the North Tongu contingent to proudly represent the district at the regional competition scheduled for 15th–21st August 2026 at Akatsi Senior High Technical School.
DCE Commends MP’s Support
Speaking at the presentation, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Amefadzi Yawa Doe, expressed appreciation to Hon. Ablakwa for the timely gesture.
“I sincerely appreciate Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for this thoughtful and timely support towards our young people. This gesture will boost the athletes’ confidence, unity, and team spirit as they compete,” she said.
Hon. Yawa Doe further encouraged the athletes, coaches and officials to put in their best.
“To our athletes, coaches and officials, I wish you the very best. Go out there, give your best and make North Tongu proud!” she urged.
The North Tongu delegation is expected to compete in athletics, football, netball, volleyball and other disciplines at the week-long festival, which brings together basic schools from across the Volta Region.
