Atimpoku, Eastern Region – The Asuogyaman District Assembly has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusion and sustainable livelihoods with a livelihood support programme for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) held on Thursday, 14 August 2026.

The presentation ceremony was led by the District Chief Executive, Hon. Godwin Bobobee, in collaboration with the District NADMO Director and staff of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development.

Tools and Resources to Build Businesses
Beneficiaries received livelihood items tailored to their individual trades and economic activities. The support package included:

– Agrochemicals and a movable cassava grinding machine
– Washing machine, deep freezers, six wheelbarrows
– Welding machine, paints, barbering machines
– Cosmetics and hairdressing equipment, liquid soap production materials
– Provisions and food items including beans, onions, pepper, gari, and palm oil

The intervention is designed to help beneficiaries either expand existing businesses or start new income-generating ventures.

“Support for PWDs is an Investment, Not Charity” – Hon. Bobobee
Speaking at the event, Hon. Godwin Bobobee emphasized that the Assembly’s goal is to ensure every resident has the opportunity to participate in the district’s development.

“Supporting Persons with Disabilities goes beyond charity. It is an investment in human potential, dignity, and inclusive economic growth,” the DCE stated.

He noted that by providing productive assets, the Assembly is helping to promote self-reliance, dignity, and greater participation of PWDs in community development.

Translating Policy into Action
The initiative reflects the Assembly’s commitment to translating social protection policies into practical interventions that directly improve the lives of vulnerable groups.

The Asuogyaman District Assembly commended the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, beneficiary groups, and all stakeholders whose contributions made the programme possible.

The Assembly expressed optimism that the support will create sustainable economic opportunities, improve household livelihoods, and bring renewed hope to beneficiaries and their families.

“Together, we are building an inclusive, resilient, and prosperous Asuogyaman District,” Hon. Bobobee added.
