The Member of Parliament for Anlo Constituency, Hon. Richard Kwame Sefe, has donated 10 ACm centrifugal water pumps to the Peculiar Ladies Association at Anyanui-Wedanu to support their farming activities for the current season.
The intervention is aimed at improving access to water for irrigation and helping the women sustain agricultural production as the farming season gets underway.
Support for women-led livelihoods
The Peculiar Ladies Association has more than 50 members whose livelihoods span farming, fishing, and local trading.
For many of the women, agriculture is a key source of income and food for their households. The provision of water pumps is therefore expected to make irrigation easier, reduce labour, and boost farm yields.
Strengthening productivity
Speaking after the donation, Hon. Sefe said the support is intended to strengthen the productive activities of women in the constituency and help them take full advantage of the farming season.
“This donation is to empower our women farmers and ensure they have the tools they need to produce more and earn more for their families,” he stated.
The donation also highlights the growing importance of targeted support for women-led groups, particularly in coastal communities where farming and fishing remain central to household incomes.
From access to impact
With the new equipment now in their hands, members of the Peculiar Ladies Association are expected to put the pumps to immediate use as they begin the season — turning improved access to water into greater production and stronger livelihoods.
