ACCRA, Ghana – The Food and Drugs Authority [FDA] has issued a warning against claims that Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah’s sobolo drink can be used as medicine.
In a statement, the FDA said the product is not registered as a medicinal product, and there is no scientific basis for its approval as medicine.
The Authority cautioned the public, media houses, and promoters to desist from advertising or marketing the drink with medicinal or therapeutic claims.
According to the FDA, any product making health or medicinal claims must go through the required registration and clinical evaluation process to ensure safety and efficacy.
The FDA added that it will continue to monitor the market and take necessary action against any unregistered products promoted as medicine.
Consumers have been urged to report any adverse reactions or misleading advertisements to the FDA.
