HO – The Volta Region continues to lead Ghana in the production of premium-grade vegetables, with no other region matching its consistent quality, the Volta Regional Director of Agriculture has said.
Mr. William Dzemefe said the Anloga enclave accounts for much of the region’s vegetable output and has established itself as the country’s hub for high-quality vegetables.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency on July 28, 2026, Mr. Dzemefe explained that farmers in the enclave rely on underground water tables to irrigate their crops.
He noted that using underground water instead of surface water helps keep the produce free from contaminants often associated with surface-water irrigation, making it a safer choice for consumers.
The Regional Director said vegetables cultivated in the enclave include carrots, onions, okra, lettuce, and shallots, describing the sector as a significant agricultural asset for the region.
Mr. Dzemefe added that the Volta Region is working to further support farmers in increasing yields and maintaining the quality that makes the region’s vegetables stand out in the market.
