The concerned employees of Volta Star Textile Limited (VSTL), also referred to as Juapong Textile Limited (JTL), situated in the North Tongu District, have urgently sought the intervention of the Volta Regional Minister and the central government to address the ongoing operational decline of the state-owned factory.

Once a leading entity in Ghana’s textile industry, the Juapong factory has faced persistent challenges, including insufficient capital, rising electricity costs, and significant shortages of raw materials. Employees are expressing apprehensions that, without immediate action, a sustainable capital infusion, and a definitive resolution to escalating staff welfare issues, the historic company will continue to experience severe difficulties.

The crisis transcends the factory itself; a complete halt in production poses a considerable threat to the local economy of Juapong and endangers the livelihoods of hundreds of families reliant on the factory. Workers are imploring the regional administration to accelerate the execution of promised restructuring plans before it is too late.
