A tragic incident has reportedly taken place at the C4 section of the Akuse Rice Farms near the Korean Farms area, following heavy rainfall in the region.
Preliminary information indicates that nine workers—eight men and one woman—from Afienya were traveling in a 4×4 pickup truck around midnight. They were on their way to load vegetables for a company operating in the Akuse area.
Reports suggest that upon reaching a bridge that connects to the main river, the occupants were unaware of the significantly risen water levels caused by the heavy rains, leading to the river overflowing its banks.
It has been reported that six of the occupants, including the female passenger, managed to survive. However, three individuals remain missing, along with the pickup truck.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service in Akuse, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), assembly members, and other community volunteers are currently present at the scene, conducting search and rescue operations.
Residents are advised to remain calm and allow emergency services to execute their duties. The public is also encouraged to avoid flooded roads, bridges, and waterways during this rainy season.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, and we hope for the swift recovery of the missing persons.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
