Child labor has become a prevalent issue in the Suhum Municipality. The Suhum Municipal Assembly, along with other stakeholders, is actively working to enforce by-laws aimed at safeguarding children in the area.
Numerous children have been observed engaging in activities such as riding motorcycles, selling bottled water, and various other tasks within the municipality.
Child labor not only jeopardizes children’s education but also limits their rights and future opportunities, exposing them to physical and mental harm. This issue often arises from poverty and inadequate access to quality education, compelling families to send their children to work, thus perpetuating cycles of deprivation across generations.
