The Upper East Regional Police Command, with support from the IGP’s Special Operations Team, conducted an intelligence-led swoop operation in Zuarungu, Bolgatanga, Tongo, Bongo, and Nabdam

The operation led to the apprehension of 80 individuals, categorized as follows:
• In Zuarungu, 12 suspects were detained (comprising 8 males and 4 females, which includes 3 Nigerian and 1 Ghanaian woman).
• In Bongo, 34 suspects were detained (comprising 32 males and 2 females).
• In Nabdam District, 14 suspects were detained (comprising 12 males and 2 females).
• In Bolgatanga, 20 suspects were detained.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the individuals were engaged in narcotics trafficking, drug consumption, and other illicit activities.

The police seized several items during the operation, including:
• Substances believed to be Indian hemp and other narcotics
• Various foreign cigarettes
• Motorbikes, both registered and unregistered
• Three rounds of 5.56×45mm NATO ammunition
• Male condoms
• Various beverages suspected to contain narcotic substances
• Parts of casino jackpot machines

All suspects are currently in police custody and will be presented before the court to face prosecution.
