On Wednesday, the 3rd of June, 2026, North Tongu DCE, Hon. Victoria Amefadze had the opportunity to visit the survivors of the unfortunate head-on collision that occurred at Peki-Tsame in the early hours of Tuesday, the 2nd of June, 2026. This tragic incident resulted in the loss of 15 lives and left 25 individuals injured.
The accident involved a 33-seater passenger bus, which was traveling from Battor in the North Tongu District to Kabiti in the Oti Region, and a container truck traveling from Nkwanta towards Accra. In the aftermath of this incident, the injured victims were admitted to the Peki Government Hospital and the Ho Teaching Hospital to receive medical treatment.
Accompanying her on this visit were Hon. Courage Kwame Kokroko, the District Chief Executive for South Dayi, as well as my Constituency Youth Organiser and Communications Officer. Our purpose was to assess the condition of the victims, offer words of encouragement, and demonstrate our solidarity with them and their families during this challenging time.
During their visit, they made donations to both hospitals to support the ongoing care and treatment of the victims. We also took the opportunity to commend the medical personnel for their unwavering dedication and professionalism in caring for the injured.
She extended her heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, our Member of Parliament and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, for their concern and commitment to the welfare of the victims and the development of our communities. Although our Member of Parliament is currently abroad on official duties, he continues to closely monitor the situation and remains deeply concerned about the well-being of the affected individuals.
They convey their deepest condolences to the bereaved families and extend our best wishes for a swift recovery to all injured victims and also remain resolute in their commitment to support the affected families and collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the necessary assistance is provided.
